Maa Saraswati

Goddess Saraswati is the Goddess of Knowledge,speech and arts.She is also known as the mother of vedas.She is the divine consort of Lord Brahma.People believe that she is the daughter of Lord Shiva and Goddess Durga.
She is the one who endows all the human beings with the power of speech, wisdom and learning. She has four hands which also represents four different aspects of human personality in learning: mind,alertness,intellect and ego.
She holds sacred scriptures in one hand and a lotus which is the symbol of true knowledge in the second hand.With the help of other two hands, she holds a music instrument with a string called Veena, on which she plays the Music of life and Love.
Most of the educated people worship her to provide knowledge and wisdom.It is believed that only Goddess Saraswati will grant them 'Moksha' the final liberation of the soul.

Vasant Pancami :

Goddess saraswati birthday will be celebrated on Vasant Panchami which is a Hindu festival celebrated every year on the 5th day of bright fortnight of the lunar month of Mugha. During this day all the Hindus visit temples and pray her to bless them with wisdom,speech and knowledge.
In schools and colleges teachers ask their students to perform special prayers on her.
Goddess Saraswati is also called as Vidya Lakshmi who provides us the knowledge which in turn changed into wealth and fortune.

Goddess Parvati

Goddess Parvati is the main source of Sakthi, which means the controller of the whole universe.She is the wife of Lord Shiva and mother of Lord Kartikeya and Lord Ganesha. Goddess Parvati has 108 names and each of them has a special meaning. Devotees who chant these names will be blessed for their devotion.Goddess Parvati also took many incarnations and she is often called as divine mother.
In her first incarnation she was called Sati, who underwent many obstacles by her father and married Lord Shiva.After her death, She took another form as Goddess Parvati and after a long penance she won the Love of Lord Shiva and married him.
There are ten forms of Goddess Parvati which represents her different powers. All of these ten forms together are called as Dasamahavidyas. In each of these forms that she undertook to destroy the demons and bless her worshippers.

  1. Goddess Kali is the first form of Goddess Parvati, who was popularly known as the destroyer and Goddess of time.
  2. Tara which is known as the source from which the universe was born and represents the power of Golden embryo.
  3. Sodasi is the third form of Goddess Parvati who represents perfection and fullness.The actual meaning of 'Sodasi' is sixteen years of age.
  4. Vidya Bhuvanevari is the forth form who represents the forces of material world.
  5. Bhairari is the fifth form who represents desires and temptations which some time lead to destruction and death.
  6. Vidya Chinnamasta is the sixth form of Goddess Parvati who represents the cycle of creation and destruction.
  7. Dhumavati is the seventh form who represents destroying the world by five which results in smoke and ash after the destruction.
  8. Vidya Bagala is the eighth form of Goddess who represents cruelty and jealousy, which are the negative aspects of an individual.
  9. Matangi is the ninth form who represents the domination of power.
  10. Vidya Kamala is the tenth form of Goddess Parvati and she is said to be the Goddess of wealth and fortune.

Goddess Lakshmi

Goddess Lakshmi is known as the Goddess of wealth and prosperity.She is the divine consort of Lord Vishnu.It is also said that she give him wealth for the preservation and maintenance of the whole creation.
Meaning of Shri

In Hindu Mythology the other name for Lakshmi is 'Shri' is written on the top of most of the documents. It is sometimes said before addressing a God (or) any individual spelling of the word "Shri" is so much powerful is that it gives affluence, authority and auspiciousness.

Goddess Lakshmi - The Image

Goddess Lakshmi has four hands which represents the four ends of the human life that is Life,desire,wealth and liberation in the process of birth to death.The lotus bud which she holds in her two hands refers to beauty,purity,spirituality and fertility.She sits on a blossomed lotus flower, which is called seat of divine truth.

The flowing of Gold coins that is seen from her hands refers to blessing people with wealth.The two elephants that are constant on left side and right side spraying water denotes, when governed by true wisdom and purity, it leads to both spiritual and material prosperity.

Belief Regarding Goddess Lakshmi

It is believed that Goddess Lakshmi will always reside in a place where there is righteousness,virtue,truth and compassion prevail.We know that wealth is required for all the needs in human life, In order to get blessed with more wealth and prosperity to the family, people worship Goddess Lakshmi.
During the festival of Diwali, Hindus worship Goddess Lakshmi at their homes, It is also believed that the Goddess will visit the homes and bless their families with wealth and prosperity.
