Goddess Lakshmi

Goddess Lakshmi is known as the Goddess of wealth and prosperity.She is the divine consort of Lord Vishnu.It is also said that she give him wealth for the preservation and maintenance of the whole creation.
Meaning of Shri

In Hindu Mythology the other name for Lakshmi is 'Shri' is written on the top of most of the documents. It is sometimes said before addressing a God (or) any individual spelling of the word "Shri" is so much powerful is that it gives affluence, authority and auspiciousness.

Goddess Lakshmi - The Image

Goddess Lakshmi has four hands which represents the four ends of the human life that is Life,desire,wealth and liberation in the process of birth to death.The lotus bud which she holds in her two hands refers to beauty,purity,spirituality and fertility.She sits on a blossomed lotus flower, which is called seat of divine truth.

The flowing of Gold coins that is seen from her hands refers to blessing people with wealth.The two elephants that are constant on left side and right side spraying water denotes, when governed by true wisdom and purity, it leads to both spiritual and material prosperity.

Belief Regarding Goddess Lakshmi

It is believed that Goddess Lakshmi will always reside in a place where there is righteousness,virtue,truth and compassion prevail.We know that wealth is required for all the needs in human life, In order to get blessed with more wealth and prosperity to the family, people worship Goddess Lakshmi.
During the festival of Diwali, Hindus worship Goddess Lakshmi at their homes, It is also believed that the Goddess will visit the homes and bless their families with wealth and prosperity.
